On my needles in July

Well, I’ve mostly been in the garden or tending the allotment this month, but when rain has forced me inside I’ve been busy making these mittens from some left over merino.

With a wrist band in crochet rib and the rest in woven stitch they are warm and fit snugly so won’t let in draughts on my winter walks. I’m going to embellish the wrist band with some wooden buttons (maybe I’ll find “just the thing” on my holidays). I’ll write up the pattern when I get back.

I also went on a lace knitting course at Fibre and Clay in Knutsford, led by the patient and talented Helen Chatterton.

I’m also knitting this lovey neck wrap in shetland wool ( and also making the same in green).

And, this (you can find the pattern on Ravelry).

Finally, I accidentally felted my favourite pink crochet tank top, which inspired me to have a go at felting these crochet flowers.

felted crochet flowersYou can tell, it’s rained a lot this month!

See you when I get back from New England.
