And the Winner Is…

You may remember last month I asked you to vote for me in the Dorset Cereals Little Blog Awards, it was just a bit of fun at first, I’ve always had a “thing” for egg cups and so the chance to win one brought out my competitive spirit. But then slowly I crept up the leader board. I came back from a short holiday to find I was in the lead – how exciting – and more exciting still, lots of messages from friends and followers saying “I voted for you, good luck”.  Even “The Teen” left me a note on the kitchen table to say she’d voted!! One follower on Facebook commented “I got my whole office to vote for you”. On the last day of voting, someone in the USA tweeted “I voted, I was number 145.  Good luck”.

145 votes, can you believe it! I know how many of you visit this blog thanks to Google Analytics, and I know how many of you tweeted and retweeted the news I was nominated. The fact that some of you took the time to click through to Dorset Cereals website and click the vote button means a lot to me. I don’t know how many votes I got in the end as the vote counter was reset to zero on the first of August, so I’ve no idea how  close I was to winning.

The day after the voting closed I got a “tweet” from Dorset Cereals saying

“Well done to you! Good to see everyone is enjoying your work”

could that possibly mean … did I win …. I tweeted back, left messages on Facebook … emailed … and … heard nothing. Last night, after yet another comment here on the blog asking “Well, did you win?” I tweeted Dorset Cereals again. Their answer:

Yes, sorry we’re not very good at keeping it up to date on our website! The winner was……. Foodwise: http://www.foodwise.be

So, there you are, it wasn’t me, nor Lotte and Bloom who kept my friends and family on their toes “Oooh, she’s creeping up again” they kept telling me. Well done to Foodwise, I did vote for her actually, there are some gorgeous food photos on there (You can vote for more than one blog – but can only vote for each blog once – confusing eh? This month, Witch Mountain (another blog I’ve voted for – it’s really rather good) is in the lead, but now it seems I have another chance. I’m still listed, so if you are feeling in a generous mood, you could vote again

Please???

ps If I don’t win this month, I shall retire gracefully and wish all the other nominees the best of luck. Or maybe I’ll host an egg cosy swap and we can all reward each other with a little bit of eggy goodness?

  8. Hi Tracey,
Just thought I’d drop a quick note after reading your post. I’m Rob from Dorset Cereals and am in charge of the Little Blog Awards, so have seen the excitement of last months final rush of votes! Amazingly you actually finished with 244 votes! It was such a tight contest at the end with the three of you constantly overtaking each other, so you at least deserve a big congratulations for coming such a close second (and for writing a great blog).

So well done, and fingers crossed for this month!

    Best wishes,
    Rob
P.S. so sorry for the delay in telling you the result, I was actually away getting married and was amazed to come back to three blog writers on the edge of their seats desperate to know!

  10. Dear Tracey,
I wish you the best of luck with this months voting, I just voted for you myself and did so before.
Thanks you for voting for me last month too, you really are a team player!
I only found out a about week ago that I was the winner, I didn’t know as it was such a small difference in votes.
Winning this beautiful egg cup and cozy was as much a dream for me as it was for you.
I haven’t received it yet and I’m waiting for the mailman every day with much excitement.
Not hearing from Dorset Cereal was agony for me too, I didn’t want to compete twice.
So when they got back to me I was happy indeed.
I wish you the best of luck and will send around your link so you get some more votes.

    Fingers crossed!
    X

  16. Hi Tracey
I just tried to vote for you again, but just kept going round in circles without getting the button to vote – I’ll try again later! An eggcup swap sounds good to me.

Hi Anne, you can only vote once in a month, so maybe the vote counter thinks you already voted this month? I may do the egg cosy /cup swap anyway just for fun. Thanks for your support and encouragement.

Hi Tracey! I finally found you ( the comment you left didn’t have a link to your blog!) Thank you so much for being kind enough to vote for me and saying such nice things on here. I wonder who actually won…I don’t think they’re great at keeping the site up to date ( and I haven’t noticed many more visitors to Witchmountain) , maybe that’s why I keep getting “unlucky” in their Spin The Bottle thing!!!Anyway All the Best and Good Luck with everything.
