Christmas Jumper Knitting

snowflake jumper issue 29 CraftsellerI love to see people wearing festive jumpers, they cheer me up and give us all a chance to show off our sense of humour and our knitting skills. However, Christmas jumpers for children need be practical too. My latest design for Craftseller magazine fits the bill. The pattern comes in one size to fit up to 64cm chest, but if you’re a confident knitter you could “size it up” a bit, or use the chart to add some snowflakes to your favourite sweater pattern.

I used King Cole Merino Blend Aran for this design, it’s a great choice for kidswear as you can wash it without fear of shrinkage and it comes in some lovely colours.

Issue 29 of Craftseller is on sale now and has some lovely projects for Christmas, in particular  Vicky Craxton’s felted snowmen are delightful.

If you’re inspired to knit your own Christmas jumper, Sue Stratford’s book is just what you need. “Merry Christmas Sweaters to Knit”, published by Search Press has inspiration for children and adults. The charts are clear and the motifs can be added to suit your own style. From a classic snowman jumper to a super stylish modern Christmas tree, there is something for everyone here. I picked up my copy while out shopping last weekend and I’m already planning a huge amount of festive knitting – not this year as time is against me – but maybe next year….

  • When you look up from the tv and realise outside is far more interesting! Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone. I shall mostly be harvesting onions, drinking g&t and reminding myself how lucky we are to have this view.

I'm looking after my neighhour's garden & boy does he have a lot of radishes just now! I have written a blog post about more of my favourite (almost) free foods. Link in profile, now I'm off to pickle these radishes.

#mygardenrightnow #girlgardener #girlsthatgarden #permaculture #growyourown #ediblegarden #bakingandmaking #slowliving #organicgardening I do love a formal garden. I walk through this one every Friday on my way to knit group. Castle Park is a hidden gem.
#gardens #castlepark #parksandgardens Thanks @simplycrochetmag for featuring my crochet picnic basket :) The pattern is available now in Simply Crochet celebrations edition. You'll need a cardboard box to upcycle & some chunky cotton yarn, I used DMC Natura XL & finished it off with leather buckles from Bag Clasps.
